Product review: Freetrain V1 Vest
Vikes Rating: 9/10
I struggled with all different methods of holding my cell phone so I could listen to music while out running. The armband was too difficult to get to, it made me feel like I was running off balance and always rubbed against me. I tried the waistband but that banged around and was distracting. I even tried holding my cell phone in my hand, if you sweat as much as I do this is not a good idea. When everything else failed I even tried just sticking my cell phone in my pocket. This was the worst option of them all, do not put your cell phone in your pocket while running. The Freetrain Vest checked off all my boxes in what I wanted in a cell phone holder.
This vest held my phone in the center of my chest so I didn’t feel off balance. The waist band was tight enough that it didn’t rub against me and there was no bounce while wearing it out on a run. The cell phone case is protected enough that even if you sweat as much as I do, your phone will still be dry.
Something I didn’t like about this vest is that you had to air dry, which takes extra time before using it after it has been washed. Another thing is that if you have a larger cell phone with a protective case, it can be difficult to slide your cell phone into the phone holder. And lastly, the button at the top of the phone holder is made of metal. Over time my button has become rusted and I’m sure overtime will eventually rip off.
What are the dimensions of the cell phone holder?
The Freetrain Vest is one size fits all, and the pouch will accommodate all cell phones with the dimensions of 6.5 inches x 3.7 inches x 0.5 inches or smaller. Some phone case protectors may need to be removed before placing your phone into the pouch. Most slimline phone cases will not need to be removed.
Is this vest machine washable safe?
It is suggested that the Freetrain Vest be hand washed in warm water with a mild detergent. Do not bleach, iron, dry clean or tumble dry. Avoid extreme heat. Please also refrain from drying your product directly on a radiator.
What is the difference between the black and silver vest?
The difference between the 2 vests is that the Silver Freetrain Vest is more reflective. It is made out of Ultra Reflective Fabric that glows in the dark, which makes it more visible in the dark, making late-night runs even safer, while the Freetrain Vest Black only has reflective prints.
Are there holes in the cell phone folder for earphone cords?
Yes, the Freetrain Vest has 3 entry points at the bottom of the cell phone holder for the wired earbuds.
Is the waist band adjustable?
This vest is designed to fit the majority of people between 28″ – 52″ chests. The Freetrain Vest comes with an adjustable waistband allowing you to expand the product to your ideal comfort settings. Its smart materials allow it to mold to your body shape whilst giving a comfortable, supported fit.
Would I recommend it?
I would recommend the Freetrain Vest to anyone who is tired of holding their cell phones in their hands or wearing an annoying armband while out on a run. This is a must have product you didn’t know you needed.
Have you tried this vest? What did you think? Did you have luck with other phone holders?
