Before the Brooks Ghost 12 I had the Brooks Glycerin 17 shoes and I absolutely loved them. I’m a huge fan of Brooks running shoes because I have found they are great for flat feet. I wanted to try something new this time around because you never know if you will like a shoe until you try it out.

Since I started running back in 2017, I have tried to find a running shoe that has good stability, nice cushioning and lasts a long time. The Brooks Ghost 12 checked 2 out of 3 for me with the cushioning being unchecked.

With a 3D fit print engineered mesh these shoes fit comfortable when you put them on. The Brooks Ghost 12 would be perfect for the average runner or if you need a pleasant pair of walking shoes on the go or if you work on your feet all day.

My biggest issue I had with these shoes were how stiff they are and how long they take to break in for running. Before you go out and buy a pair for yourself, here are more specific details directly from the Brooks website:

Support: Neutral

Midsole Drop: 12mm

Weight: 10.4oz / 294.8g

Arch: Medium, High

Use: Road Running

Are these hard to break-in?

In my experience with the Brooks Ghost 12, these shoes were a little hard to break in. I have been running in them for about 3 months and they still seem stiff.

How do they fit?

The Brooks Ghost 12 shoes are more stiff and feel less cushioned than shoes I have had in the past. I tried tying the laces for these different ways and no matter what I tried the laces dug into the top of my foot near the tongue of the shoe when I ran. Overall they are true to size.

How do they look?

The Brooks Ghost 12 comes in 15 different colors:

  • Black / Lime / Blue Grass
  • Navy / Gold
  • Black / Pearl / Oyster
  • Black / Grey
  • Black / Grey / Stellar
  • White / Black
  • Red / Black
  • Black / Ebony / White
  • Black / True Blue / Black
  • Grey / Alloy / Blue
  • Blue / Navy / Nightlife
  • Navy Stellar White
  • Black Turbulence Orange
  • Poseidon / Grey / Orange
  • White / Grey / Black
Are these good for flat feet?

My feet are flat and need some extra cushion. These shoes feel like they have less cushion and are more stiff. For me, these shoes are not good for my flat feet.

Would I recommend it?

Overall, these shoes are still great shoes but do not check off all the boxes. Every runner is different and has their own needs for their own feet. If you have flat feet I wouldn’t recommend these shoes. If you like less cushion and more of a firm shoe, these are still great shoes.

Have you tried these running shoes? How did you like them?
